ENGL 110 - Principles of English Grammar A study of the various aspects of English grammar, such as sentence structure, agreement, tenses, pronoun reference, and punctuation, to increase students’ knowledge of the English language and to enhance their writing capabilities. Three hours each week. Formerly EN 105.
3 semester hours
Course Outcomes: Upon course completion, a student will be able to:- Identify and use basic sentence patterns.
- Identify and practice appropriate use of clauses and phrases.
- Eliminate common sentence errors (sentence fragments, run-on sentences, comma splices, misplaced modifiers, and dangling modifiers),
- Use subordination, coordination, and parallel structure.
- Use punctuation correctly.
- Use verbs correctly.
- Use the correct form of pronouns.
