LGST 102 - Legal Research Focuses on the importance of legal research as a valuable skill set for the paralegal professional. This introductory course will explore the elements of an organized approach to legal research, including traditional and electronic sources of research and commonly used research tools to include online research and use of secondary sources to include treatises, annotations, and legislative histories. PREREQUISITE(S): LGST 101 . Three hours lecture/discussion each week.

Course Outcomes: Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:
- Demonstrate how to locate federal and state case law.
- Demonstrate how to locate federal and state statutes and legislative histories.
- Demonstrate how to research legal issues using Westlaw, Lexis/Nexis, and other online resources.
- Demonstrate knowledge of facts, evidence, and rules of law to establish authority to support a legal position.
- Demonstrate knowledge of local rules & regulations.
