TECH 282 - Web Application Development Using PHP and MySQL An introduction to the creation and maintenance of data- driven websites using PHP and MySQL. Create a MySQL database and maintain the database dynamically using the programming language PHP. PREREQUISITE(S): TECH 272 or consent of department. Three hours lecture/discussion each week.
3 semester hours
Course Outcomes: Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:
- Use MySQL to create, update, and delete tables from a database.
- Create related tables and define keys.
- Use PHP to create a data driven website.
- Create a web-enabled form and use PHP to check the validity of the form and add form information to a database.
- Use PHP to retrieve data from the MySQL database and display in various formats including tables.
- Understand the basic program constructs such as if/else, switch, loops, arrays, and functions and be able to use them in the PHP script.
- Use built-in features of PHP such as data and string manipulation.
- Alter the content of a web page dynamically using the combination of data from the MySQL database and PHP methods such as the type of browser the user has, the date, and time.
