TECH 290 - Building Game Worlds Topics include level design, world building, and quality assurance. Provides an overview of level design and testing, two of the most common entry-level positions in the game industry. Students use industry standard tools to create interactive 3D game prototypes. PREREQUISITE(S): TECH 190 or consent of department. Assessment Level(s): ENGL 101 /ENGL 011 . Four hours each week.

Course Outcomes: Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:
- Describe the variety of career paths in the gaming industry and identify skills needed for success in some of these different career paths.
- Describe the roles of Level Designers and Quality Assurance members of a game development team.
- Use industry tools to build interactive 3D game worlds.
- Design, develop, and test prototypes for different game genres.
- Combine components like graphics, models, animation, sound, and programming to create game levels.
- Use common terminology of game development.
- Develop an online portfolio of game development work.
