BLDG 173 - Intermediate Refrigeration and Introduction to Heating (R only)
A continuation of the study of refrigeration, including the technician’s professional responsibilities of proper refrigerant handling techniques and certification, as well as an introduction to basic residential heating systems and their operation and components. Topics include recovering, recycling and charging refrigerant, natural gas and electric heating systems. The course is a preparation for the EPA Section 608 Technician Certification exam. PREREQUISITE(S): BLDG 170 . Three hours lecture, two hours laboratory each week.

Course Outcomes: Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:
- Describe proper techniques and procedures for handling refrigerants.
- Describe rules and requirements for handling refrigerants.
- Identify various residential heating systems and their components.
