ANIM 200 - Animation I: Introduction to 2D Animation This course provides an introduction to 2D animation, covering key topics such as the history of animation, animation principles, storyboard creation, techniques in 2D hand-drawn and stop-motion animation, and a hands-on exploration of the animation production process. It also includes an overview of the animation job market. PREREQUISITE(S): GDES 116 . Two hours lecture, four hours studio each week.

It is recommended that animation students complete ARTT 100 - Introduction to Drawing prior to taking this course. It is also recommended that students take ARTT 205 - Figure Drawing I in the same semester as this course.
Course Outcomes: Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:
- Discuss and apply the principles of animation.
- Identify and practice fundamental animation techniques.
- Explore significant movements and milestones in animation history.
- Demonstrate skills in storyboarding and craft animatics.
- Engage in concept development, with a focus on character design and storytelling.
- Explore effective workflows for 2D animation.
- Evaluate and discuss peer work.
