This sequence of two courses is designed for persons who wish to develop skills in the heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVACR) trade. To complete each course in this sequence, students need to demonstrate skills in specific areas. These areas include: refrigeration systems, soldering and brazing, electrical controls, and refrigerants. A grade of C or better is required in each course.

Program Requirements

All students should consult an advisor.

BLDG 170 - Fundamentals of Refrigeration 4 semester hours
BLDG 172 - HVACR Electricity 4 semester hours

Total Credit Hours: 8

Upon successful completion of this course of study, and application to the office of Records and Registration, the letter of recognition in HVACR will be issued by the chief enrollment services and financial aid officer.

Demonstrate the ability to work effectively as a team member within the HVACR trade.
Describe effectively the roles and responsibilities of a HVACR technician on a residential construction project.
Apply practical HVACR skills.
