KORA 202 - Intermediate Korean II A continuation of KORA 201 . Students further their ability to communicate in Korean through an advanced consideration of cultural themes and a review of Korean grammar to support an increased focus on reading and composition. In-class work is supplemented by 20 hours of online homework. PREREQUISITE(S): KORA 201 . Three hours each week.
3 semester hours.
Course Outcomes: Upon course completion, a student will be able to:
- Communicate in the target language at an advanced intermediate level in the skill areas of reading, writing, speaking, and listening.
- Apply linguistic structures supporting communication at the advanced intermediate level of proficiency.
- Compose creative, descriptive, narrative and expository pieces.
- Express and appropriately employ the following language functions: making an appointment, making a polite request/question, writing letters and postcards, asking for prices and buying things, making suggestions, ordering food, talking about favorite activities.
- Discuss Korean culture in general and specific cultural practices at the advanced intermediate level by using complex sentences.
- Discuss the relationship between Korean cultural practices and products under consideration at the advanced intermediate level by using complex sentences.
- Exhibit appropriate sociolinguistic behaviors through oral presentations at the advanced intermediate level as these correspond to increasing linguistic ability in Korean.
- Produce and present a cultural project at the advanced intermediate level.
