DANC 102 - Ballet II

Further study of classical ballet as offered in DANC 101. Emphasis on developing an aesthetic awareness of the art, understanding ballet theory, and perfecting technique. Review of basic exercises and terminology. Pirouettes and petite batterie are introduced. PREREQUISITE(S): DANC 101 or consent of department. May be repeated for a maximum of six credits with consent of department. One hour lecture, four hours laboratory each week.

Course Outcomes:
Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:

Demonstrate increased knowledge of ballet technique, theory, history, and vocabulary through personal participation and written and oral communication.
Demonstrate improved technical ability in the classical ballet style.
Demonstrate improved ability to combine ballet steps and pick up these combinations.
Demonstrate elementary skills in the artistry and expression of ballet movement in class participation and performance.
