PHIL 218 - Women in Philosophy II Introduces the student to the contributions by women in philosophy in modern and contemporary times. The course provides a critical examination of their philosophic views and explores philosophical issues such as oppression, morality, the meaning of equality, and the role of the family. Assessment Level(s): ENGL 101 /ENGL 011 . Three hours each week.
3 semester hours
Course Outcomes: Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:
- Identify the issues addressed by the philosopher under discussion in modern and contemporary times.
- Identify the position that the philosopher is taking on these issues.
- Explain how a female philosopher’s argument supports her position.
- Determine the relevance of the philosopher’s position to modern times.
- Evaluate the contributions that the philosopher has made to the discussion of these issues.
