AUTO 220 - Automatic Transmission/Transaxles (R only) CE
Preparation for ASE A-2 Automatic Transmission/Transaxle technician certification exam. Discusses purpose, parts, operation, failure diagnosis, and overhaul of automatic transmissions and transaxles. Laboratory exercises emphasize current service and diagnostic procedures. PREREQUISITE(S): A grade of C or better in AUTO 101 , AUTO 161 , and AUTO 180 . Two hours lecture, six hours laboratory each week.

Course Outcomes: Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:
- Verify drivability complaint using the diagnostic process.
- Inspect and interpret fluid level and condition.
- Perform drain and fill, flush, and filter change.
- Perform and interpret stall and lock up converter test.
- Diagnose noise, vibration, and pressure concerns.
- Inspect, repair, replace external seals, bushings sensors, and mounts.
- Remove and install RWD/FWD transmission and torque converter.
- Disassemble, clean, inspect, and overhaul transmission.
- Inspect, replace flex plate.
- Inspect, measure, replace internal transmission parts.
