BLDG 273 - Air Conditioning and Heat Pump Systems (R only)
Intended for advanced/degree-seeking HVACR students, this course covers operation, installation, servicing, and troubleshooting of gas, oil, and electric heating systems. Topics include installation and service procedures, tools, equipment, systems, fuels, principles and analysis of combustion, and pipe fitting. PREREQUISITE(S): BLDG 172 and BLDG 173 . Three hours lecture, two hours laboratory each week.
4 semester hours
Course Outcomes: Upon completion of this course, a student will be able to:
- Identify various cooling system types.
- Describe typical heat pump operation.
- Identify refrigerant-specific tools.
- Describe installation procedures for a typical cooling-only system.
