CMSC 214 - Advanced Java Programming Explores Java Application Program Interface (API) and covers the latest release of Java including input and output, multithreading, networking, database connectivity, remote objects, security, Java Beans, and Java Foundation Classes. PREREQUISITE(S): A grade of C or better in CMSC 201 or consent of department. Three hours each week. Formerly CS 214.
3 semester hours
Course Outcomes: Upon course completion, a student will be able to:
- Apply exception handling features
- Use input and output to manage and process a large quantity of data.
- Use collections Application Programming Interface (API).
- Demonstrate multi-threading to make programs more responsive and interactive.
- Develop GUI-based applications such as a list, table or tree.
- Write programs to use Remote Method Invocation (RMI) and networking API of Java.
- Develop programs to connect to the database and to manipulate data using Java API.
