HINM 210 - Statistics for Health Information (TP/SS only) CE
This course includes topics covering health data statistics and data presentation. The student will gain an in-depth knowledge of basic hospital statistics and application of the same. Basic computer literacy and keyboarding skills are necessary. PREREQUISITE(S): CMAP 120 , HINM 133 , HINM 146 and HINM 115 , or consent of program coordinator. One and one-half hours lecture, one hour laboratory each week. Formerly HI 203.

Course Outcomes: Upon course completion, a student will be able to:
- Determine the most appropriate use of these health care statistics in Health Information management.
- Evaluate healthcare statistics, including mortality and morbidity rates, autopsy rates, measures of central tendency, and dispersion.
- Display data generated from health care statistics using the most appropriate tables graphs and figures (i.e. frequency tables, bar graphs, histograms, pare to diagrams, pie charts).
