TVRA 140 - Video Editing (R only)
An introduction to the equipment and procedures used to manipulate video and audio using professional nonlinear editing software. Hands-on projects allow students to create, mix, and edit video and still and animated images and sounds into presentations suitable for visual arts, educational, and corporate use. Assessment Level(s): ENGL 101 /ENGL 101A , READ 120 . Two hours lecture, three hours laboratory each week. Formerly TR 110.

Course Outcomes: Upon course completion, a student will be able to:
- Demonstrate comprehension of computer file management by creating new folders on the computer’s hard drive, transferring files to and from data storage device, saving, and retrieving files from proper location.
- Identify specified file names and formats.
- Demonstrate the ability to import still images into computer programs and create simple graphic elements.
- Demonstrate the ability to capture video/audio files into computer.
- Manipulate and compress video, still images, and audio files for use in various editing formats.
- Apply editing choices that further the story and manipulate timing and pacing of project based on target media outlet and audience appeal.
- Demonstrate the ability to output finished video sequences in a variety of media formats for multiple purposes.
- Prepare and interpret simple outlines, storyboards, or scripts for projects.
