ENES 104 - Introduction to Engineering Professions An introduction to the profession of engineering; guidance in the study of engineering and the fields of engineering, ethical responsibilities of engineers, and engineering hands-on activities. The course will provide information useful for making decisions in engineering fields of study and careers. Ethical and legal aspects of the engineering profession will be discussed. Workshops for resume writing, participation in the engineering club, and field trips may be required. Assessment Level(s): ENGL 101 /ENGL 101A , MATH 093 /MATH 096 , READ 120 . One and one-half hours lecture/seminar each week. Formerly ES 104.

Course Outcomes: Upon course completion, a student will be able to:
- Explain the role of the engineer in contemporary society.
- Explain different engineering disciplines.
- Explain professional ethics in engineering and how to take responsibility when ethical issues arise in engineering practice.
- Write an effective resume for future use.
- Become acquainted with various professional engineering societies such ASME, IEEE, AIChE, and ASCE and get involved in the engineering activities.
- Plan, study, and prepare for a career in engineering.
- Explain the current state of engineering applications from faculty and practicing engineers through seminars and field trips.
- Develop a list of engineering resources for practice, research, and employment.
