The Radio Program is a career-focused degree designed to teach video and audio production skills through hands-on, experience-based classes in radio, sound and podcast production. Students develop technical skills, writing skills, aesthetic values, and professional attitudes, supported by highly committed faculty with practical experience in the field of production. The attainment of these skills is demonstrated in a digital portfolio designed to support a job search. Knowledge and skills learned through this program will be of value in commercial, industrial, interactive and educational media production and distribution.
A strong academic core combines a liberal arts education with specialized career courses. This offers the graduate the alternatives of entering the field or continuing in an institution of higher learning. The curriculum is offered for high school graduates pursuing careers in sound production as well as those employed in the video production field. Completion of all curriculum requirements will lead to the award of the Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.). A student interested in any of the Broadcast Media Production AAS or certificate curricula should consult an academic adviser in the Department of Media Arts & Technologies for assistance in making course selections.
